Swalcliffe - Tadmarton Heath 5.5 miles Thurs 1st Aug 2019

This walk has excellent open views. In August we walked clockwise through purple fields of borage and fields of flax (or linseed). We walked part of a Roman road and passed by Swalcliffe Lea (ponds).  There were more good views as we progressed from Tadmarton towards Tadmarton Heath. Nearing the end of the walk we passed through fields used for equestrian events and to the right (East) of Hill Farm, near some caravans. This part is not waymarked very well. Just after Hill Farm there is a little valley, with steep sides separating the farm from Swalcliffe. Make your way carefully down and go to the far right (East) of the row of properties and make your way back to the start. (There is an alternative path, which we took,  through the middle of the properties. It goes through two private gardens)

Park in the Tithings at Swalcliffe barn in Swalcliffe on the B4035 road between Banbury and Shipston-on-Stour.

I can recommend the beef sandwiches at the Stag's Head. It has a nice beer garden with good views across a valley.
