A map is displayed. With red circles with numbers (of walks) in them. You can keep on clicking on the red circles to see more details. It might be better to click on the + button at the bottom right of the screen. Drag the map. Scroll down. These walks have been recorded by many different people.
There are many walks and there are various ways of searching for a walk and filtering the results. E.g walks between 4 and 5 miles. These filters are at the top of the map displayed.

If you type in the

one of the following

wdu3a
or
warwick district u3a

or even
warwick district

or
Derek Darby

And press Search
Only walks done by Warwick District U3A rambling groups will be displayed.

Alternatively enter the shortcode for a particular walk in the
Search by text and VR code box
And press Search

A list of shortcodes is given on the ViewRanger shortcodes page on this blog.
Warwick district U3A shortcodes all begin with uthreea and have 4 digits on the end.

E.g. Sibford Ferris to Sibford Gower 4.25 miles has been given the code uthreea0019

Enter the shortcode (Make sure you use zeros and not letters where applicable)
Press the Search button and then when the walk appears, select it and then select the walk title and browse around the information.

Press the
GET THIS ROUTE button
My routes are free.
You may be prompted to login or register at this point.
In which case do so and press the
GET THIS ROUTE button again
You can print the walk via the Menu button.

Method 2

An alternative method to the above is given on the WDU3A rambles page of this blog

To transfer the walk to your smartphone

Use your smartphone at home, near WiFi (or with mobile data switched on) and open the ViewRanger app.
Tap the Search icon at the top (Magnifying glass)
It usually defaults to Search places.
Keep tapping the icon to the left of Search places (below the signposts icon) until it says
Search routes
Enter the code for the walk which is something like
UthreeaXXXX
(X is a digit between 0 and 9)
(Make sure you use zeros and not letters where applicable)
Press the search button and then when the walk appears the download button.
Choose Download Route only (unless you want to purchase map tiles. If you already own the map tile(s) you won’t be charged for them)
You should be able to find the walk and download it to your phone. It can then be used to follow the walk.
