Smartphones on the Norton Lindsey walk

We all tried out Viewranger from www.viewranger.com.
Peter and Brian used smartphones. Derek used a 7" tablet (Hudl).

Viewranger worked very well and is a definite alternative to a handheld satnav. One of it's advantages to a group is that it runs on smartphones and tablets, android or apple, as well as on a PC. A PC can be used to plan the walk. There is a free version with two free map tiles but for about 10 pounds you can get it with quite a few maps.

You can buy plastic covers for the devices from Amazon to hang around your neck, rather like a map case.

It was a good ramble on a nice day followed by lunch in the New Inn at Norton Lindsey.
